Nintendo Switch 2 Console Feels Warm While Docked

Steps for when, while docked, the Nintendo Switch 2 console feels warm to the touch while in use or in sleep mode.
Note: If your Nintendo Switch 2 system is docked and a LAN cable for wired internet is connected, the console will still use some power, even while in sleep mode. A slightly higher temperature is within normal operating parameters.
What to do
- Check that the air vents
on the top of the console and the air vent
on the dock are not covered or obstructed.
- Remove any accessories, stickers, decals, etc., that may be blocking the air vents.
- Ensure the console and dock are placed in an open, ventilated area. Do not place the console near a heat source, or in a location where heat can easily build up.
- Monitor the situation over time to see if the console continues to overheat.
- If the dock starts to get hot while using the console in TV mode, such as after playing for extended periods of time, check that the dock fan starts running.
Situation not resolved
If the system fan is not operating or other issues are occurring such as the system freezing or shutting off, then the console will need to be sent in for service.
Additional information
As with most electronic devices, it is normal for the Nintendo Switch 2 console to feel warm to the touch after using it for a while. This does not necessarily indicate that there is an issue with the console.
