System Lock PIN on Nintendo Switch 2
Information about the PIN on Nintendo Switch 2 to lock the console, and steps for setting it up and unlocking the console.

A PIN can be set that requires entry when turning on the console and waking from sleep. Only one PIN can be set for the console, so all users will need to use the same PIN to unlock the system when set. To add the PIN to the console, you may need to sign in to your Nintendo Account and enter your Parental Control PIN if you have one set up.

How to add the System-lock PIN
- Confirm that your console is on system version 20.1.0 or higher.

How to check for the latest system update
- Select System Settings on the HOME Menu.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the System Settings menu and select System.
- Select System Update to start the system update process.
- The system will check to see if an update is available.

How to check for the latest system update
- Select System Settings from the HOME Menu.
- Select System.
- Select System Lock to toggle the option on.
- Read the on-screen prompt, and select OK.
- Enter your chosen PIN and select OK.
- If you have set up Parental Controls on your console, we recommend that you use a different PIN code.
- Enter your PIN again to confirm.
- Click OK.
- Confirm that your console is on system version 20.1.0 or higher.

How to unlock the console with the PIN set
If a system lock PIN is set, a screen will appear when turning on or waking from Sleep Mode.
Use the on screen keyboard to enter the system-lock PIN for the console. Press the A Button to select your choices.

How to disable the PIN
- Select System Settings from the HOME Menu.
- Select System.
- Select System Lock to toggle the option off.
- If you have a Parental Control PIN set, you will need to enter it to remove the console unlock PIN.
- Enter the system-lock PIN.

How to remove the PIN if forgotten
Important
- Completing the steps to Initialize Nintendo Switch 2 Without Deleting Save Data will not unlock the system.
- Completing a full system initialization, deleting all data from the console, will remove the system-lock PIN.
The console will need to be connected to the internet to complete the following steps.
- On the PIN entry page, press the + Button for Help.
- Select the option to log in to remove the system-lock PIN.
- Log in to a Nintendo Account tied to any user on the console. It does not need to be the same user/Nintendo Account used to set the system-lock PIN.
- After logging in, the system-lock PIN will be removed from the console. A new PIN can be set up through System Settings.
