How to Turn Airplane Mode On or Off on Nintendo Switch 2

Steps on how to activate and deactivate Airplane Mode on a Nintendo Switch 2 console.

Complete these steps

From the System Settings menu
  1. From the HOME Menu, select System Settings.

  2. From the options on the left, select Airplane Mode.

  3. Select Airplane Mode on the right-hand side.
  4. Toggle Airplane Mode on or off as desired.
From the Quick Settings screen
  1. Press and hold the HOME Button for at least one second to access Quick Settings.
  2. From the Quick Settings screen, toggle Airplane Mode on or off as desired.
  3. Use the individual toggles to turn on/off Bluetooth, WiFi, or NFC.
    • If these toggle don't appear, make sure you're on the latest system version.
    • The set preferences for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or NFC while in Airplane Mode will be saved and applied the next time you turn on Airplane Mode.

      2. Scroll down through the System Settings menu and select System.
      3. Select System Update, to start the system update process.

        • During the process, the system will first perform a check to determine if a new system update is available.
        • If an update is available, the download process will begin automatically.

Additional information

  • When Airplane Mode is activated, all wireless communication, such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, may turn off. You can still use the console in handheld mode, or use the touch screen. Some types of wireless communication can still be switched on manually when the console is in Airplane Mode.
  • If you wish to detach your Joy-Con 2 and play in Tabletop Mode while Airplane Mode is enabled, perform the following while the Joy-Con 2 are still attached:
    1. From the HOME Menu, select System Settings.
    2. From the options on the left, select Airplane Mode.
    3. Select Airplane Mode on the right-hand side.
    4. Toggle the Bluetooth option on. Your Joy-Con 2 will now continue to function when you detach them from the console while it is in Airplane Mode.
