How to Receive a Mystery Gift (Pokémon Scarlet/Pokémon Violet)

Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Nintendo Switch - OLED Model

Follow these steps to use the Mystery Gift feature in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.

Before you start

You will need:

  • Your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console
  • An Internet connection
  • Unlock the Mystery Gift feature in the game by reaching the first Pokémon Center in Los Platos

Complete these steps

  1. Launch Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet from the console's HOME Menu.
  2. Press the X Button during gameplay to access the in-game menu.
  3. Select Poké Portal.
    • Poké Portal has not been unlocked

      The Poké Portal and Mystery Gift features become available in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet after you reach the first Pokémon Center in Los Platos.

  4. Select Mystery Gift.

How do you want to receive the gift?

  • Internet
    1. Select Internet. The game will connect to the Internet and search for any gifts that are currently available.
    2. Highlight the Mystery Gift and press the A Button to confirm.
      • Pokémon will be added to your party or your Pokémon Boxes.
      • Non-fashion items will appear in your Bag.
      • Fashion items can be accessed by pressing the Left Button to open the Outfit menu.
    3. Be sure to save your game after receiving your gift.
  • Download Code
    1. Select Code/Password.
    2. Enter the code you received and select OK Aceptar OK OK .
      • Pokémon will be added to your party or your Pokémon Boxes.
      • Non-fashion items will appear in your Bag.
      • Fashion items can be accessed by pressing the Left Button to open the Outfit menu.
    3. Be sure to save your game after receiving your gift.

Additional information

  • Mystery Gift is a feature in the game that allows players to redeem download codes or connect wirelessly to Nintendo-sponsored events to obtain special Pokémon or items.
  • Once you have received a gift, it will appear in your bag, party, or Pokémon boxes.
  • You can select 'Check Mystery Gifts' from the Mystery Gift menu to view the Mystery Gifts you’ve previously received.
