How to Access NookLink in the Nintendo Switch App (Animal Crossing: New Horizons)

Follow these steps to access NookLink in the Nintendo Switch App, which enhances some of the features in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Important: If you've recreated your character or island and NookLink is still displaying your previous data, please read A Deleted Character Still Appears in NookLink (Animal Crossing: New Horizons) for further assistance.
Before you start
You will need:
- Your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console
- A smart device with the Nintendo Switch App
- A Nintendo Switch Online membership
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons software, updated to the latest version

How to update game software
- Ensure the console is connected to the Internet.
- From the HOME Menu, select (but do not start) the icon for the software you wish to update.
- Press the + Button or – Button on your controller, then select Software Update followed by Via the Internet.

Complete these steps
- Activate NookLink from the Animal Crossing: New Horizons title screen on your console.
- Launch the game from the console's HOME Menu.
- On the title screen, press the (-) Button (Settings).
- Select NookLink settings, then Yes, please.
- Launch the Nintendo Switch App on your smart device.
- Link the same Nintendo Account that you use with Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
- In the “Game-Specific Services” area of the app, select Animal Crossing: New Horizons to access the available features:
- Passport: View information about your character and other residents that you've encountered.
- Designs: Scan a QR Code for designs created in Animal Crossing: New Leaf or Animal Crossing: Happy Home Design. You can use your NookPhone in Animal Crossing: New Horizons to download saved designs to your game.
- Keyboards: Use your smart device keyboard to chat with friends.

- Settings: Change the player or language on your app, and view copyright information and credits.

NookLink is a service in the Nintendo Switch App that allows you to use custom design QR codes from earlier Animal Crossing titles, use your keyboard to chat with other players, and see information about your Best Friends in the game.
