How to Transfer Pokémon (Pokémon HOME)

What to do

What game do you want to transfer Pokémon with?

• Pokémon Champions

  Send Pokémon to visit from within Pokémon HOME

  Note: These steps are for the console version of Pokémon HOME. For steps to do this with the smart device version, check the in-app Help menu.

  1. Start Pokémon HOME from the Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch HOME Menu.
  2. Press the A Button on the title screen.
  3. Select Pokémon Champions from the main menu.
     • If this is your first time connecting to Pokémon Champions, you'll be prompted to confirm the account link. Select Yes.
  4. Select the Pokémon you want to visit Pokémon Champions, then press the Y Button.
  5. Select Yes to confirm.

  Collect the Pokémon in Pokémon Champions

  1. Start Pokémon Champions from the Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch HOME Menu.
  2. Press the A Button on the title screen.
  3. Select Recruit.
  4. Select Collect from Pokémon HOME.
     • If this is your first time using this feature, review the additional information then press the A Button to close the prompt.
  5. Review the Pokémon that were sent, then select Collect from Pokémon HOME.
     • If this is your first time using this feature, review the additional information then select Yes to confirm.
  6. Select OK to finish and return to the Recruit menu.

  Send visiting Pokémon back to Pokémon HOME

  1. Start Pokémon Champions from the Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch HOME Menu.
  2. Press the A Button on the title screen.
  3. Select Recruit.
  4. Select Send Back to Pokémon HOME.
     • If this is your first time using this feature, review the additional information then press the A Button to close the prompt.
  5. Select each Pokémon you want to send back, then press the X Button.
  6. Review the information, then select Yes to confirm.
  7. Select OK to finish and return to the Recruit menu.
• Pokémon Legends: Z-A

  Important

  • You can only transfer Pokémon between Pokémon HOME and this game using the console version of Pokémon HOME. This feature is not available on the smart device version of Pokémon HOME.
  • Pokémon currently in your party cannot be transferred.

  1. Start Pokémon HOME from the Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch HOME Menu.
  2. Press the A Button on the title screen.
  3. Select Pokémon from the main menu.
  4. Select the game you want to connect to, as well as which user’s save data you will access.
     • You will be able to move Pokémon from any user on the system, so make sure that you choose carefully. Please don’t move someone else’s Pokémon without their permission!
  5. Select the Pokémon you want to move, and the Box they’ll be moved to in Pokémon HOME or the Pokémon game you selected.
     • How to check which games a Pokémon can travel to
       1. Select the Pokémon you want to check.
       2. Select Check Summary.
       3. Press the + Button to view the list of compatible games.
  6. Press the + Button once you're done moving Pokémon, then select Save changes and exit.
• Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet

  Important

  • You can only transfer Pokémon between Pokémon HOME and these games using the console version of Pokémon HOME. This feature is not available on the smart device version of Pokémon HOME.
  • Pokémon currently in your party cannot be transferred.

  1. Start Pokémon HOME from the Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch HOME Menu.
  2. Press the A Button on the title screen.
  3. Select Pokémon from the main menu.
  4. Select the game you want to connect to, as well as which user’s save data you will access.

• Pokémon Bank

  Important

  • A Pokémon HOME Premium Plan subscription is required to move Pokémon from Pokémon Bank.
    • Previously, a Pokémon Bank paid pass was also required. As of March 27, 2023, Pokémon Bank is free to use—however, it must have been downloaded before March 27, 2023. New downloads of Pokémon Bank are no longer possible after that date.
  • Pokémon transferred to Pokémon HOME from Pokémon Bank cannot be transferred back to Pokémon Bank or used with Nintendo 3DS titles.
  • Pokémon can be transferred from Pokémon Bank to the console version and smart device versions of Pokémon HOME.

  3. On the Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console (Pokémon HOME)

     1. Start Pokémon HOME from the Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch HOME Menu.
     2. Press the A Button on the title screen.
     3. On the main menu, select Move.
     4. Select Begin Move, and then Begin.
     5. Select Ready!, then Display to receive a Moving Key.
        • The Moving Key will expire in three minutes. You will need to complete the process before the Moving Key expires.

     On the Nintendo 3DS system (Pokémon Bank)

     1. Start Pokémon Bank from the Nintendo 3DS HOME Menu.
     2. Press the A Button on the title screen.
     3. Select Move Pokémon to Pokémon HOME from the main menu.
        • Pokémon Bank must be updated to ver 1.5 or higher for this option to appear.
     4. Select the Boxes you want to move to Pokémon HOME. Press the Y Button, then Yes.
     5. Enter the Moving Key that was displayed on your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch before it expires (within three minutes).
        • The move will begin when the Moving Key has been correctly entered into Pokémon Bank.
        • Note: Codes never include the letter O, I, or Z.

     1. Link the Nintendo Network ID that you used with Pokémon Bank to the Nintendo Account that you are using with Pokémon HOME.
     2. Start Pokémon HOME from the Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch HOME Menu.
     3. Press the A Button on the title screen.
     4. On the main menu, select Move.
     5. Select No Nintendo 3DS.
     6. Select CheckBuscarVérifierVerificar to make sure that the Nintendo Network ID used for Pokémon Bank is linked to the Nintendo Account that you are using with Pokémon HOME.
     7. Once you’ve confirmed that the NNID is correct, select Begin to move all of your Pokémon from Pokémon Bank to Pokémon HOME.

     On the smart device (Pokémon HOME)

     1. Start Pokémon HOME on your smart device.
     2. Tap on the title screen to sign in.
     3. Tap the button at the bottom of the screen to open the menu.
     4. Select Options.
     5. Select Move Pokémon.
     6. Select Begin Move, and then Begin.
     7. Select Ready!, then Display Moving Key to receive a Moving Key.
        • The Moving Key will expire in three minutes. You will need to complete the process before the Moving Key expires.

     On the Nintendo 3DS system (Pokémon Bank)

     1. Start Pokémon Bank from the Nintendo 3DS HOME Menu.
     2. Press the A Button on the title screen.
     3. Select Move Pokémon to Pokémon HOME from the main menu.
        • Pokémon Bank must be updated to ver 1.5 or higher for this option to appear.
     4. Select the Boxes you want to move to Pokémon HOME. Press the Y Button, then Yes.

     3. Tap on the title screen to sign in.
     4. Tap the button at the bottom of the screen to open the menu.
     5. Select Options.
     6. Select Move Pokémon.
     7. Select No Nintendo 3DS.
     8. Select Continue to move all of your Pokémon from Pokémon Bank to Pokémon HOME.
• Pokémon GO

  Important

  • For additional guidelines about transferring Pokémon from Pokémon GO, please review the information on the official Pokémon HOME website.
  • Pokémon transferred from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME can’t be returned to Pokémon GO.

  On the smart device (Pokémon GO)

  1. Open the Pokémon GO application.
  2. Tap the Poké Ball icon and open Settings.
  3. Select Connected Devices and Services, then Pokémon HOME.
  4. Log in to the Nintendo Account used with the Pokémon HOME account that you want to transfer your Pokémon to.
  5. Select Send Pokémon.
  6. Check the GO Transporter and how much GO Transporter Energy you have, as well as how long it will take to recharge, and select Continue. A certain amount of GO Transporter Energy is required to transfer each Pokémon.
  7. Select the Pokémon you want to transfer.
  8. Confirm the Pokémon you want to transfer as well as how much GO Transporter Energy the transfer will cost, and select Transport if there are no issues.

  You can receive the Pokémon using either the console or smart device version of Pokémon HOME:

  On the Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console (Pokémon HOME)

  1. Start Pokémon HOME from the Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch HOME Menu.
  2. Press the A Button on the title screen.
  3. On the main menu, select Pokémon GO.
  4. If there are Pokémon that have been transferred, you can select Receive to send them to your Pokémon Boxes in Pokémon HOME.
     • Not enough space to receive the Pokémon

       If you can't receive the Pokémon because there is not enough space, you can clear space in your Pokémon Boxes and then select Pokémon GO from the main menu again.

  On the smart device (Pokémon HOME)

  1. Open the Pokémon HOME application.
  2. Tap on the title screen to sign in.
  3. Once you sign in, you'll be prompted to receive the transferred Pokémon. Tap Yes.
  4. View the list of transferred Pokémon from Pokémon GO, then tap Receive Pokémon.
     • Not enough space to receive the Pokémon

       If you can't receive the Pokémon because there is not enough space, you can clear space in your Pokémon Boxes and then go to the Pokémon GO Link option in Settings to try again.
