Error Code: 9001-0055

Steps for when you're attempting to redeem a download code on the Nintendo website and the website displays the error code: 9001-0055.

Information

This error occurs when either the download code has expired or the content you are attempting to redeem the download code for has not yet been released for purchase on Nintendo eShop in your region.

What to do

  • Redeeming a download code for a game/DLC
    1. Check for an expiration date. Your download code may have expired.
    2. Make sure the code is for the same region as your Nintendo Account.
      • A download code can only be redeemed on a Nintendo Account set to the same region as the download code. If the download code is sold for use from a different region, the download code will not work.
      • For example, a European download code will not work with a North American Nintendo Account.
    3. Check the game's page on the Nintendo eShop to make sure it's available for purchase. If the game/DLC is not released yet, wait until the official release time and then try again.
      • Software titles may become available at different times of day on their release dates.

    If you are still unable to redeem your download code and getting the error code, please contact us for additional support.

  • Redeeming a download code for a Nintendo Switch Online membership
    • Check the information for the download code for an expiration date. Your download code may have expired.
    • Try re-entering the download code to make sure you're entering it correctly. If some characters are hard to read, try entering similar characters.
      • For example, a 0 may look like an 8, a 5 may look like a 2, etc.
    • Make sure you're using a code for the same region as your Nintendo Account.
      • The code can only be redeemed on a Nintendo eShop set to the same region as the download code. If the download code is for a different region, the download code will not work.
      • For example, a European code will not work with a North American Nintendo Account.
