How to Tell Which NES Controller is Left and Which is Right?

In this article, you'll learn how to distinguish between the Left and Right NES Controllers.
There are a couple of ways to identify which controller is Left and which is Right.
The position of the Release Button
- Left NES Controller
Looking at the top of the controller, the release button will be located on the back of the controller, on the left-hand side.
- Right NES Controller
Looking at the top of the controller, the release button will be located on the back of the controller, on the right-hand side.
The model number on the back of the controller
- Left NES Controller
The Left controller has MOD. HAC-033 printed on the back. - Right NES Controller
The Left controller has MOD. HAC-034 printed on the back.
