How to Copy Photos to a Computer

Nintendo DSi

In this article, you'll learn how to copy your photos over to a computer.

Complete these steps

Before you get started, you'll need the following items:

  • A compatible SD Card or SDHC Card. The Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DSi XL are compatible with SD cards up to 2 GB and SDHC cards up to 32 GB.
  • An SD Card slot on the PC or MAC, or an SD Card reader/writer.
    • Many newer PCs come with SD Card reader/writers already installed. Check the front and back of the PC for an SD Card slot. If you don’t already have an SD Card slot, you can purchase a card reader from most retailers who sell electronics and/or computer accessories. These are usually called Media Card Readers, and they connect to the USB port on your PC. Be sure that you get a card reader that is compatible with the SD card that you own. For example, some card readers might be compatible with SD Cards but not SDHC Cards. The packaging should clearly state which format(s) are compatible.
  1. Insert the SD card into the PC or Mac.
  2. Open Windows Explorer (for PC) or Finder (for Mac) and navigate to a folder suitable for photo storage.
  3. Open another instance of Windows Explorer or Finder and select the drive being used by the SD Card to open it.
  4. Navigate to the folder named DCIM and browse through its sub-folders to find Nintendo DSi Camera application photos.
  5. Highlight the desired photos or folders, copy them, and then paste them into the first instance of Windows Explorer or Finder to create copies on the computer.
