How to Voice Chat Using the Nintendo Switch App

Information on how to use the voice chat feature of the Nintendo Switch App on smart devices.

An active Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use the voice chat features of the Nintendo Switch App.
The voice chat feature of the Nintendo Switch App can be used by Nintendo Switch Online members who are age 13 and older.
On Nintendo Switch 2, GameChat is also available to use for voice and video chatting with friends online.

From your smart device, download and install the Nintendo Switch App.
Start the Nintendo Switch App and sign in with your Nintendo Account.
From your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console, start the compatible game using the same Nintendo Account as used on the Nintendo Switch App.
On the console, start the game mode (multiplayer) that supports voice chat.
On the smart device, a "Smart Device Voice Chat" section will appear towards the bottom of the app's main page. Select Start to join the voice chat lobby.
As you play online, other players using the Nintendo Switch App will join the voice chat lobby as they join your online game.
