The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) is a U.S. federal law that applies to the online collection of personal information from children under 13 years of age.
- Before children age 12 and under can participate in any online activities, a parent or guardian must set up a Nintendo Account for children under age 13. To verify that a parent or guardian has granted consent, they will need to provide a valid credit card number when setting up a Nintendo Account for the child.
- Once a child’s account has been created, parents can set restrictions on using specific online games, applications, and features.
