How to Use the Labo Motorbike (Mario Kart 8 Deluxe)

In this article, you'll learn how to use the Labo Motorbike with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Important: The Nintendo Switch 2 console and Joy-Con 2 controllers cannot be used directly with Toy-Con accessories due to size differences. When using Nintendo LABO accessories with games on Nintendo Switch 2, you can connect Nintendo Switch Joy-Con wirelessly to operate certain Toy-Con. Before you start
The following items are required to use the Labo Motorbike feature with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe:
- 1 – 4 Nintendo Labo Motorbikes (cardboard pack included with the Nintendo Labo Variety Kit and sold separately)
- Nintendo Labo Variety Kit Software (included with the Nintendo Labo Variety Kit – not sold separately)
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (updated to ver 1.5 or higher)
- Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers (one pair per Nintendo Labo Motorbike).
Complete these steps
- Assemble the Nintendo Labo Motorbike(s) as directed in the Nintendo Labo Variety Kit Software.
- Please note that this software is only included with the Nintendo Labo Variety Kit. It is not currently sold on its own (either digitally or through retailers).
- Update Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to the latest version.

How to update game software
- Ensure the console is connected to the Internet.
- From the HOME Menu, select (but do not start) the icon for the software you wish to update.
- Press the + Button or – Button on your controller, then select Software Update followed by Via the Internet.

How to update game software
- Launch Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and press the L Button and R Button on the title screen to reach the main menu.
- Select Toy-Con, then toggle to Toy-Con Motorbike for each player that will be using one.
- Once set, press the B Button to return to the main menu, and set up the type of game you’d like to play (Single Player, Multiplayer, etc).
- On the screen right before the race begins, remove the Joy-Con or pair them wirelessly, then press the L Button and R Button when prompted.
- Insert the Joy-Con into the Motorbike Toy-Con(s). Press the A Button when you’re ready.
