Nintendo Switch Battery Charge Does Not Last Very Long

Help when your Nintendo Switch system will fully charge and power on, but when the AC adapter is disconnected or the Nintendo Switch console is undocked, the battery charge depletes quickly.
Important: As with most lithium-ion batteries, the Nintendo Switch system battery life will gradually decrease over time. After about 800 charge cycles, the system battery life will decrease to about 80% compared to the battery on a new system. This is normal and does not represent an issue with the system or with the battery.
What to do
- Determine how long the battery should last when fully charged. The battery duration varies depending on system model and the on the software application and functions being used.
- For Nintendo Switch, model number: HAC-001 [product serial number begins with "XAW"], the battery life is approximately 2.5 to 6.5 hours.
- For Nintendo Switch, model number: HAC-001(-01) [product serial number begins with "XKW"], the battery life is approximately 4.5 to 9 hours.
- For Nintendo Switch Lite, model number: HDH-001, the battery life is approximately 3 to 7 hours.
- For Nintendo Switch – OLED Model, model number: HEG-001 [product serial number begins with "XTW"], the battery life is approximately 4.5 to 9 hours.
- Charge the system fully, then observe if the battery charge lasts as long as the listed times.
Additional information
- Nintendo Switch systems take approximately 3 hours to fully charge when they are powered off or in sleep mode. Charging time will be longer if the system is in use.
