Error Codes: 2002-2000 to 2002-2499

What to do

Follow the path based on whether you use a microSD/microSD Express card with your console or not.

• microSD/microSD Express card is inserted in the console
  1. Check that your console has the latest system update.
     • How to check for the latest system update
       1. Select System Settings on the HOME Menu.
       2. Scroll down to the bottom of the System Settings menu and select System.
       3. Select System Update to start the system update process.
          • The system will check to see if an update is available.

  2. Power off the console.

     Important: Always shut off the console before removing or inserting a microSD/microSD Express card. If one of these cards is inserted or removed while the console is powered on or while in sleep mode, you will be prompted to restart the console.

       1. Press and hold the POWER Button for at least three seconds.
       2. Select Power Options.
       3. Select Power Off.

       3. Select Turn Off.

       
  3. Remove the microSD card.
     • How to remove a microSD card
       1. With the console powered off, locate the microSD card slot:
          • Nintendo Switch 2: Gently swing the adjustable stand open to show the microSD card slot.
          • Nintendo Switch – OLED Model: Gently swing the adjustable stand open to show the microSD card slot.
          • Nintendo Switch: Gently swing the stand open to show the microSD card slot.
          • Nintendo Switch Lite: Gently open the microSD card slot cover.
       2. Gently push down on the top of the microSD card until you hear a click, then slide it out of the microSD card slot.

  4. Make sure the card you are using is compatible with your console.
     • microSD Express cards compatible with Nintendo Switch 2

       Nintendo Switch 2 is only compatible with microSD Express cards.

       
     • microSD cards compatible with Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch

       The following types of microSD cards are supported on Nintendo Switch 2:

       • microSD Express (up to 2TB)

       
       

       The following types of microSD cards are supported on Nintendo Switch:

       • microSD (up to 2 GB)
       • microSDHC (4 GB - 32 GB)
       • microSDXC (64 GB - 2 TB)

     Important: If there is more than a 1GB difference between what is listed on the card’s label or packaging and the total card capacity listed in the system, contact the retailer for assistance.

  5. Check for any dirt or debris on the card's terminals, and, if dirty, gently wipe the terminals with a soft, dry cloth, such as a glasses cleaning cloth, taking care to not damage them.
  6. Re-insert the microSD card.

       1. Press and hold the POWER button on the console for at least three seconds.
       2. Select Power Options, then Turn Off.
       3. Locate the microSD card slot:
          • Nintendo Switch 2: Gently swing the adjustable stand open to show the microSD card slot.
          • Nintendo Switch – OLED Model: Gently swing the adjustable stand open to show the microSD card slot.
          • Nintendo Switch: Gently swing the stand open to show the microSD card slot.
          • Nintendo Switch Lite: Gently open the microSD card slot cover .
       4. Check that the microSD card is properly positioned with the label facing away from the console.
       5. Insert the microSD card into the slot and gently push down until it clicks into place.

  7. Power the console back on.
  8. Check for corrupt data.

       1. From the HOME Menu, select System Settings.
       2. Scroll down the options on the left and select Data Management.
       3. On the right-hand side select Manage Software, then select the software you would like to check.
       4. Select Scan for Corrupted Data.

       2. Scroll down the options on the left and select Data Management.
       3. On the right-hand side select Manage Software, then select the software you would like to check.
       4. Select Check for Corrupt Data.
  9. Format the microSD/microSD Express card.
     • How to format a microSD Express card

       Important

       • Once formatted, the information on the microSD Express card cannot be recovered. If screenshots or videos are stored on the microSD Express card, be sure to first back up the information on a computer.
       • If downloadable software was saved to the microSD Express card, it can be redownloaded using the same Nintendo Account it was purchased with.
       • Save data is stored on the console’s system memory, so it will not be lost in this process.

       1. From the HOME Menu, select System Settings.
       2. Scroll down the options on the left and select System.
       3. Scroll down the options on the right-hand side and select Formatting Options.
          • If prompted, enter your Parental Controls PIN.
       4. Select Format microSD Card, then Continue.
          • The following message will be displayed, “All data on the microSD card will be deleted. Data cannot be restored once it is deleted. Continue?”
       5. To continue, select Format. The console will then restart.

     • How to format a microSD card

       Important

  10. Redownload content that was saved to the card prior to formatting to see if the error persists.
      • How to redownload a game or DLC

        To redownload a digital game or DLC, load the virtual game card:

        1. Select Virtual Game Cards Tarjetas de juego virtuales Cartes de jeu virtuelles Cartões de jogo virtuais from the HOME Menu.
        2. Select your user.
        3. If prompted, enter your user verification PIN or enter your Nintendo Account password.
        4. Select the item you want to redownload from the list of your virtual game cards.
        5. Select Load on This System Cargar en esta consola Charger sur cette console Carregar neste console .
        6. The game (and any DLC for that game you have purchased) will begin downloading. You can check the download status on the HOME Menu.

      • Error still displayed
        1. Try using a different microSD card.
        2. Remove the microSD card and download the software directly to the system memory.

        If the error persists with multiple supported microSD cards, or when downloading directly to the system memory, the console will need to be serviced

• microSD/microSD Express card is not inserted in the console
  1. Check that your console has the latest system update.

  2. Restart your console.

     • Console is not responding

       If the console does not respond, hold down the POWER Button for twelve seconds to force it to shut down. Then power it on again.

  3. Check for corrupt data.

       1. From the HOME Menu, select System Settings.
       2. Scroll down the options on the left and select Data Management.
       3. On the right-hand side select Manage Software, then select the software you would like to check.
       4. Select Scan for Corrupted Data.

  4. If the error occurs with downloadable software, delete and redownload the software.

       2. Scroll down the options on the left and select Data Management.
       3. On the right-hand side select Manage Software, then select the software you would like to delete.
       4. Select Delete Software. The software and icon will be deleted from the HOME Menu. It can be redownloaded using the Nintendo Account that purchased it.
