How to Update the Controller Firmware on Nintendo Switch

Follow these steps to update the firmware on Nintendo Switch controllers.
Important
- In order to update the controller firmware, the controller must be paired to the console and powered on.
Complete these steps
- Ensure your console has the latest system update installed.

How to check for the latest system update
- Select System Settings on the HOME Menu.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the System Settings menu and select System.
- Select System Update to start the system update process.
- The system will check to see if an update is available.

How to check for the latest system update
- Select System Settings from the HOME Menu.
- Select Controllers and Sensors.
- Select Update Controllers to begin updating the controller's firmware.
- If multiple controllers are paired to the console, the firmware will be updated one controller at a time.
- If the update stops before it can be completed, try this step again.
