How to Format a microSD Card or microSD Express card on Console

Complete these steps

Follow the steps below based on the console you're using.

• Nintendo Switch 2
  1. Select System Settings from the HOME Menu.
  2. Select System.
  3. Confirm your console is on the latest system version.
     • How to check for the latest system update
       1. Select System Settings on the HOME Menu.
       2. Scroll down to the bottom of the System Settings menu and select System.
       3. Select System Update to start the system update process.
          • The system will check to see if an update is available.

  4. Scroll down and select Clear microSD Card Data.
     • If prompted, enter your Parental Controls PIN.
  5. Read the on-screen information, then select Continue to proceed.
  6. Select Clear Data to confirm. The console will then restart.
• Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch – OLED Model, or Nintendo Switch Lite
  1. Select System Settings from the HOME Menu.
  2. Select System.
  3. Confirm your console is on the latest system version.

       1. Select System Settings on the HOME Menu.
       2. Scroll down to the bottom of the System Settings menu and select System.
       3. Select System Update to start the system update process.
          • The system will check to see if an update is available.

  4. Scroll down the options on the right-hand side and select Formatting Options.
     • If prompted, enter your Parental Controls PIN.
  5. Select Format microSD Card, then Continue.
     • The following message will be displayed:
     • All data on the microSD card will be deleted. Data cannot be restored once it is deleted. Continue?Se borrarán todos los datos de la tarjeta microSD. Una vez eliminados, los datos no se podrán recuperar. ¿Seguro que quieres continuar?Toutes les données présentes sur la carte microSD vont être effacées et ne pourront pas être récupérées.   6. To continue, select Format. The console will then restart.
