Follow these steps to change the Parental Controls PIN for a Nintendo Switch console.

Complete these steps

Is your Nintendo Switch console linked to the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app on a smart device?

  • Nintendo Switch is linked to app

Note: While the Nintendo Switch console is linked to the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app on a smart device, the PIN can only be changed through the smart device app.

    1. Open the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app on your iOS or Android device.
      • Don't have access to the app

If you don’t have access to the app, unlink the app from your console. This will remove the parental controls.

        1. On the Nintendo Switch console, select System Settings from the HOME Menu.
        2. Scroll down to highlight Parental Controls, then select Unregister App.
          • If this option doesn't appear, your console is not linked to the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app.
        3. Enter the Parental Control PIN.
        4. Select Unregister.
        5. Select OK to return to the System Settings.
        6. Once the app is unlinked, you can set up parental controls again directly on the console to set a new PIN.
    2. Select Parental Controls in the lower-right corner. If you have more than one Nintendo Switch console linked to the app, tap the menu icon in the upper-left corner to choose the correct console.
    3. Select Parental-Controls PIN.
    4. Next to the current PIN, tap Change.
    5. Enter the new 4-8 digit PIN that you want to set, then tap Confirm.
