Liquid Was Spilled on the Nintendo Switch Console

Help for when water or other liquid has been spilled on the Nintendo Switch console.

What to do

Immediately unplug and power off your console any time any liquid is spilled on it. As with any electrical appliance, there is a risk of electrical shock if it is used while wet.

  1. Press and hold the POWER Button for at least three seconds.
  2. Select Power Options.
  3. Select Turn Off.
- Liquid entered the console
  
  Liquid can easily cause damage to the inside of the console. We recommend sending your console for service, even if issues do not arise immediately.

Clean the housing with a soft, dry cloth.
Let the console air-dry for a few days.

Important: Do not apply any type of heat to speed up the process (blow-dryers, heaters, microwave ovens, etc.), as this may cause damage to the console.
Power on the console.

If the console isn't working after air-drying, it will need to be serviced.
