Digital Content is Missing from Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch (Games, DLC, Etc)

Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Nintendo Switch - OLED Model

Follow these steps if certain games or DLC seem to be missing or cannot be launched from the HOME Menu.

Complete these steps

  1. Are you missing a full game, or specific DLC in a game?
    1. Locate the game in the Nintendo eShop using your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch and select it to reach the game details page.
    2. Check whether the game has a "Virtual Game Cards" button on the right side of the game details page, and mentions redownloading the game. If so, this means that the game has been purchased by you, and can be redownloaded at no cost.
    3. Restart your console and try to access the game again.
    4. Load the virtual game card for the game to redownload it.
      • How to load a virtual game card

        2. Select your user.
        3. If prompted, enter your user verification PIN or enter your Nintendo Account password.
        4. Select the game you want to load from the list of your virtual game cards.
        5. Select Load on This System Cargar en esta consola Charger sur cette console Carregar neste console .
        6. If not already downloaded, the icon for the game will appear on the HOME Menu and it will begin downloading. Once downloaded, all users on the console where the game is loaded can play the game.

      • Game isn't in virtual game card list

        If you can't find the game you want to redownload in the list and it shows "Virtual Game Cards" on the game details page or "Purchased" when browsing or searching, follow Software Displays “Purchased” in the Nintendo Switch eShop.

    5. Make sure to allow enough time for the download to finish. You can check the current download status on the Nintendo Switch HOME menu.
    6. Once the download is finished, launch the game from the HOME Menu.

    1. Locate the game in the Nintendo eShop using your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch and select it to reach the game details page.
    2. Scroll to the Downloadable Content section and select View All or View All Items.
    3. Select the specific DLC item you are missing from the list to view the details page.
    4. Check whether the item displays a "Virtual Game Cards" button on the right side of the DLC details page, and mentions redownloading the DLC. If so, this means that you have purchased the DLC and it can be redownloaded at no cost.
    5. Restart your console and try to access the content again.
    6. Load the virtual game card for the DLC to redownload it.

        2. Select your user.

      • DLC isn't in virtual game card list

        If you have the digital version of the game, your DLC is included with the game—load the virtual game card for the game to redownload the DLC.

        If you have the physical version of the game and the DLC doesn't appear in the list and shows shows "Virtual Game Cards" on the details page or "Purchased" when browsing or searching, follow Software Displays “Purchased” in the Nintendo Switch eShop.

    7. Make sure to allow enough time for the download to finish. You can check the current download status on the HOME menu.
    8. Once the download is finished, launch the game from the HOME Menu and check to see if the DLC is accessible.
      • For games published by Nintendo, we may have support articles on how to access DLC for particular titles. If the game was not published by Nintendo, it may help to search online for walkthroughs on how to access DLC for the particular game.

    Are you using a physical or digital game?
    1. Check what region the game is intended for.
      • How to check physical software region compatibility
        1. Select the icon for the game from the HOME Menu.
        2. Press the + Button or - Button on your controller to access the software menu.
        3. Select Software Information.
        4. Select Support Information.
        5. The supported regions for the software will display. Contact information for supported regions displayed in the Support Information menu
    2. Check what country/region the DLC is intended for.
      1. Visit accounts.nintendo.com and sign in with the Nintendo Account that you used to make the DLC purchase.
      2. In your profile information, verify that the country/region of residence for your account matches the compatible regions for your version of the game.
    3. Compare the supported regions for the game and DLC to see if they match.
    4. Remove the game card.
    5. Highlight the icon for the software that cannot use the DLC, then select it using the + (Plus) Button.
    6. Scroll to Manage SoftwareGestionar programaGérer le logicielGerenciar software, then select Delete SoftwareBorrar el programaEffacer le logicielApagar o software. This will not delete the related save data.
    7. Reinsert the game card, and install any available updates.
    8. Load the virtual game card for the DLC to redownload it.

      • DLC isn't in virtual game card list

        If the DLC doesn't appear in the list and it shows "Purchased" on the details page, see Software Displays “Purchased” in the Nintendo Switch eShop.

Additional information

If a game or DLC has been deleted from the HOME Menu on Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch, it can be redownloaded by loading the virtual game card for it.
