No Sound from the Television (Wii U)

The information in this article can help you when no Sound comes from the Television when using a Wii U.

What to do

If you are using a receiver, switch, or other device, see if sound will continue after switching applications (such as Mario Kart 8 to Netflix, or Netflix to the Wii U Menu). If this solves your issue, then please use it in the future and be sure to keep your system updated.

For testing purposes, please connect the Wii U directly into your television, bypassing any receivers, switches, or other devices.

  1. What type of cable are you using to connect your Wii U to your television?
    • Ensure that the television is not set to mute, and that its volume is not turned low.
    • Check that your television is set to the correct input channel for your connection.
    • Check that the correct settings are being used on the Wii U.
