No Power [NES Classic Edition]

NES Classic Edition

The information in this article can help you when the Power switch is ON, but the Power LED is unlit on the NES Classic Edition.

Note: When Auto-Shutdown is enabled, the console will shut off automatically after one hour of inactivity.

What to do

  1. Reboot the console.
    • Press the Power switch OFF, then ON again.

  1. Did the Power LED turn on?
    1. Power on the TV or monitor and select the correct HDMI input.
    1. Check the serial number on the bottom of the console.
      • Systems sold in the Americas will have the serial number prefix CU followed by nine digits.
      • Any other serial number prefix indicates the system is from another region.

    1. Verify that you are using the original AC adapter that came with the console.

    2. Reset the AC adapter.
      • While resetting the AC adapter, check for any damage (frayed cables, cuts, kinks, etc.).
      • If any damage is found, the AC adapter will need to be replaced.
    3. If possible, test the console using another licensed AC adapter or a power source that is rated for 5V/1A.

    If the console works with another licensed AC adapter or with a compatible power source, then the original AC adapter will need to be replaced.

    If the console does not work with another licensed AC adapter, there is likely an issue with the console.

    Important
    • You have a console that was intended to be sold in another region.
    • Only consoles sold in the Americas will include an AC adapter.
    • If you have a console that was intended for another region, and it included an AC adapter, it is very likely an unlicensed accessory.
    • We have found that this issue can be caused by using an underpowered AC adapter or power source.
    • The problem can be resolved by using a licensed AC adapter. You can purchase one from Nintendo Store.

    If a licensed AC adapter is unavailable, you can try using a different AC adapter that is rated as 5V/1A.
