Error Code: 52030 - 52032 (Wii U)

The information in this article can help you when you receive the error message: "Unable to connect to the Internet" or when you're unable to connect a Wii U console online when using online features from within Wii Mode.

  • This is often caused by an incompatible security type or the router refusing a connection because an incorrect security key or security type has been entered into the Wii U Internet settings.
  • This may also occur as the result of wireless interference.

What to do

  1. Prior to continuing with troubleshooting, power cycle your home network and then retest your console's Internet connection.
    1. If you receive a 7-digit error code from the Wii U, look up that error code and follow the specific troubleshooting related to that error code.
  2. Open the Internet Settings system and enter both the correct wireless security type and password into your existing Internet connection.
    1. On some occasions your router may be set to WPA2 - PSK (AES + TKIP). In this situation, please select WPA2 - PSK (AES) within the Wii U Internet settings.
    2. WPA2-PSK(TKIP) is compatible with the Wii U, but it is not supported when using Wii Mode. If your wireless router uses WPA2-PSK(TKIP), you must change this setting to use Wii Mode online features.
    3. After entering the password settings, your system will perform a connection test. If this is successful, you are ready to connect online.
    4. Contact your ISP for assistance determining your wireless password or security type if you were unable to find them.
  3. If the test connection fails, this may indicate a different setting within the Wii U console's Internet settings is incorrect. Create a new Internet connection on the Wii U, entering the same wireless password information used for the previous step.
  4. If the test connection continues to fail, review your network setup and make changes that can improve wireless signal strength.
    1. After trying each of the recommended changes, use the recently created Internet connection to test your connection.
