GameCube Controller Adapter or GameCube Controller Doesn't Work

Wii U

The information in this article can help you when the GameCube Controller Adapter or GameCube Controller doesn't work.

What to do

  1. Ensure that the GameCube Controller Adapter has been connected to the Wii U correctly.
  2. If you are currently using a USB hub, remove it and connect the GameCube Controller Adapter directly to the Wii U.
    • If the GameCube controller is reponsive after bypassing the USB hub, then the issue lies with the USB hub. A new USB hub may resolve your issue. Please review our recommendations for USB hubs.
  3. Try a different set of ports on the Wii U. If you find that a different set of ports works without issue, then the first set of ports on your Wii U console no longer work.
