How to Sync a Wii Remote with a Wii U Console from the HOME Menu

In this article, you'll learn how to pair a Wii Remote with a Wii U from the HOME Menu.
Complete these steps
- Connect the sensor bar and place it appropriately.
- On the Wii U GamePad press the HOME Button to open the HOME Menu.
- There are some applications/screens where the HOME Menu cannot be accessed.
- Tap Controller Settings.
- Tap Pair under Wii Remote/Other Controllers.
- Press the Sync button on the controller you wish to pair with the Wii U.
- To access the SYNC button in the Wii Remote's battery compartment, remove the battery cover on the back of the Wii Remote. (If the Wii Remote Jacket is being used, it will need to be temporarily removed before the battery cover can be removed.)
- Some models of the Wii Remote include a hole in the battery cover and a tool on the wrist strap to push the SYNC Button with. With this model, the battery cover and jacket do not need to be removed to access the SYNC button.
- Press the sync button on any additional controller you wish the pair with the Wii U.
- When you are finished, tap Exit.
- Tap Back to return to the HOME Menu.
- Tap Close HOME Menu to return to the Wii U Menu.
