How to Update Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon

In this article, you'll learn how to update Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon.

Note
  • Save data will still be available for use after downloading the update.
  • After downloading the update, please do not delete the update data. Update data can be viewed in the Downloadable Content area of the Data Management menu.
  • Please note that after downloading the most recent update, any battle videos you have saved up until now cannot be played or made public.
  • As of April 8, 2024, online play and other functionality that uses online communication has ended for Nintendo 3DS family software.

On February 6, 2018, a new software update for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon became available for download. Please take a moment to download and install this update while your Nintendo 3DS Family system is connected to the Internet.

Complete these steps

  1. Ensure your system is connected to the Internet.
  2. Perform a system update to ensure you have the most up-to-date version.
  3. Download the Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon Update from the HOME Menu or Nintendo eShop.
  4. Once the download is complete, the update will automatically be applied. The newest version number will be displayed on the title screen.

Update history

Ver. 1.2 (Released February 6, 2018)

  • Various fixes to improve gameplay.

Ver. 1.1 (Released December 13, 2017)

  • An issue where the game would occasionally freeze during a cutscene immediately after selecting Litten to be your first Pokémon partner during the game’s prologue and thus prevent further progress has been fixed.
  • An issue where the move Wide Guard would not behave properly in relation to some Z-Moves has been fixed.
  • An issue where the move Ion Deluge would not behave properly has been fixed.
  • An issue where a learned move would be forgotten if you used BP in places like Mantine Surf Spot or the Battle Tree to learn a move.
